Teachers getting tech-smart

In June 2015, Vodacom, in partnership with ITSI, rolled out its initial Smart School Project to five schools in the Free State.

During the initial implemen-tation, Vodacom sponsored Internet with various partners taking care of the schools’ infrastructure, e-books, tablets for all learners, laptops for teachers, e-beams and interactive whiteboards in the classrooms.

More than 4,500 learners at the five schools, namely Boitlamo Secondary (Parys), Evungwini High School (Vrede), Lere-La-Thuto (Zastron), Mamello (Virginia) and Setjhaba-se-Maketse Combined School (Botchabello), could experience the value of the entire ITSI Solution. Initial training and continuous support ensured that these schools were well on their way to fully embracing 21st Century learning.

During January 2017, the ITSI team – always committed to training and support – commenced their teacher training, focussing on computer literacy, upskilling of school champions and the introduction to the ITSI Helpdesk.

Here’s to wishing the Free State schools all of the best for 2017.
